Caerphilly Lockdown Statement

Cricket Wales are aware of the reported increased local lockdown measures that are due to be put place today, Tuesday 8th September, in the Caerphilly County Borough Council Area.

We continue to liaise with Sport Wales and the Welsh Sports Association and will monitor whether there is likely  to be any further impact on sports participation, save for the clear, strict restriction on people entering or leaving the Borough Council area, without good reason, for the foreseeable future.

We will be in touch with all clubs concerned directly, but in this specific case, clubs, and participants inside or close to the Borough are advised that they should not leave or travel into the Borough of Caerphilly from 6pm tonight.

Players, volunteers and officials who live in the Borough, but have connections to clubs outside Caerphilly, must also not travel outside of the area, while restrictions are in place.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind all clubs and participants of the necessity to continue to adhere to the guidelines issued jointly by Cricket Wales and the England & Wales Cricket Board, as well as respecting all standing Welsh Government regulations with regards to social distancing and gatherings.   It is critical that sport - and, in our case, cricket - continues to be part of the potential solution to this health crisis and is NOT part of the problem.

Further updates will be posted on our social channels and website as soon as they are available.
