Cricket Wales Staff Update September 2020

Cricket Wales is pleased to update our members, partners and stakeholders of further positive developments in relation to staff returning from furlough leave, as we seek to support cricket to come back even stronger in the coming months.

Our Women’s & Girls’ Officers returned the week that cricket was permitted to be played again in July, and have since been working diligently on supporting numerous soft ball festivals and other club development initiatives over the summer, which will now be celebrated as part of the ECB’s #WomensCricketMonth.

Our Lord’s Taverners Wicketz Officer, Gabby Basketter, has also returned recently and will be increasing her hours this month, as more delivery becomes viable

This week, we welcome back our Regional Workforce Administrators, whose first task will be to roll out an exciting and proactive project to undertake a record level of Level 2 coach assessments with candidates who are ready to be observed, and who will help underpin Welsh cricket’s growth in 2021.  Later this month, they will also support the roll-out of an important, new Safeguarding compliance management system.

Lastly, next week, our Community Coaches will be back to kickstart a new term of Chance to Shine cricket delivery in schools up and down the country.

Cricket Wales CEO, Leshia Hawkins, commented, “I am delighted to see so many of our team back in the business and am excited about our plan to support and sustain our sport further in the coming months.

“While I am cognisant that colleagues will have wanted to be more actively involved over the last few months, I am extremely grateful to them for their patience and understanding, and for the contribution they have made to Cricket Wales’ overall response to the crisis.

“As a business, we will undoubtedly need to keep adapting and thinking differently, but we are resolutely committed to ensuring that cricket comes back stronger from the challenges of the last few months.  I am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together, safely, and in line with new regulations and guidance.”
