Becoming a Disability Inclusive Cricket Club

Cricket is an inclusive sport by its nature – a sport that many people play, follow and have a passion for being involved in.

Across Wales we wish to support cricket clubs to open their gates and deliver cricket opportunities for ALL, including those with disabilities.

Cricket Wales is looking to support a focused number of cricket clubs through guidance, training and resources. This, we hope, will enable these clubs to welcome individuals with additional needs and varying abilities to support them in playing, following, officiating and/or volunteering to create a truly equitable club game and providing fantastic new opportunities for cricketers.

Support Resources

Cricket Wales will provide ongoing assistance, supporting clubs to create links with their local schools and service providers. Cricket Wales will also signpost players to further opportunities and support clubs to arrange match-play opportunities.

Cricket Wales will also help in accessible coaching sessions and resources to assist with participants and running engaging sessions.

These sessions will help contribute towards the club becoming insport accredited.

The insport Club programme is part of the broader insport project, which aims to support the physical activity, sport, and leisure sectors delivering inclusively of disabled people.  Disability Sport Wales insight tells us that the majority of adults get to experience great quality sport opportunity within a club environment, and that disabled people may not want to just play sport within a disability sport or impairment specific club or session.

The purpose for insport Club is therefore to support clubs in developing their provision so that it includes disabled people with clubs structures which provide the best opportunities to the community, increase participation and membership, enable larger sections of the community to become involved within a voluntary governance role, and continue to provide great sport across Wales.
